Our speaker will be Mary-Jeanine Ibarguen, the owner and founder of Florida Quilt News Network and she will be doing a presentation on what you can do with an Accuquilt.

Our August guest is Nancy Desler. Nancy has been exploring with beads and fabric for over 25 years, and teaching beading nationally for almost as long. She is the author of Bead Creative Art Quilts and Bead Creative Like Crazy: Beading Inspired by Crazy Quilts. Nancy will have items for sale. She takes cash, check, Venmo and Zelle. She does not take paypal or credit cards.

Sue Beevers of Trillium Ridge will be our speaker this month. Sue is the designer of our current opportunity quilt.
October 20-21 Sue is presenting a 2 day workshop called Curls and Swirls. Her workshop is $85.00, at Fabric Warehouse.
November 16, 2023
Kestral Michaud is our speaker this month. Kestrel is a classically trained artist with a passion for illustrating in fabric. There is a fee for nonmembers of $25.00 (unless you are attending the workshop, workshop price includes guild meeting presentation).
November 16, 2023 Kestrel will be presenting an all day workshop from 9:30-4:00. Cost is $100 for members, $125 for non members.
December 2, 2023
Annual Christmas Part will be held at Mount Olive Shores North. Cost is $25.00. Food will be suitable for vegetarians and our Jewish friends. Annual Guild challenge is due.

Featherweight Circle
Featherweight Circle meets on the second Wednesday of the month. For details, contact the guild through our contact form. Please put Featherweight Circle in the subject.
Hand Sewing Circle
Hand Sewing Circle meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Larry Jackson library from 10-1 in the meeting room. You are welcome to join us.
Events and Ongoing Guild Projects
Challenge Project
The challenge this year is called “Self Portrait”. The size is 22″ square. It does not have to be a picture of your face, but it can be. It can be about your “essence” or personality; what makes you tick, etc. It can be any format (pieced, applique, paint, etc.) as long as it end up being a little quilt. It’s all about you! Make it funny, poignant, sweet, whatever you are, as long as it is a 22″ square quilt about you. The challenge will be voted on at the Guild Christmas Party, with prizes awarded for first, second and third place.

Board Meetings will be the first Tuesday of the month unless otherwise stated. You must RSVP to ladiesofthelakesfl@gmail.com if you wish to attend.
Quilt Retreats
We have two local daytime retreats scheduled for 2023. The dates for these retreats are: October 23-28, 2023 and October 30-Nov. 4, 2023, and held at the Fabric Warehouse. Contact Suzi Olson at burtnsuzi@aol.com for more information or to be added to the waitlist. We also have a spring retreat held at Dayspring conference center. Those dates are April 8-11, 2024. Sign ups for the retreat begin at the September meeting. For more information contact Kimberly at ladiesofthelakesfl@gmail.com.
